A well-established and expanding manufacturing firm located in Suffolk County, Long Island is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join its finance leadership team. This is a critical role that supports the Controller and CFO in overseeing financial operations and contributing to the company's strategic growth initiatives.

Core Responsibilities:
* Oversee daily accounting operations including payroll, billing, inventory accounting, and cost tracking
* Lead month-end and year-end closing activities; prepare reconciliations and journal entries
* Ensure accurate financial reporting in compliance with GAAP
* Manage and mentor a small accounting team, fostering skill development and performance growth
* Support the annual budget and rolling forecast processes
* Collaborate with plant operations to improve cost control and margin analysis
* Prepare internal financial statements and reports for executive leadership
* Assist with external audits and tax filings, ensuring timely and accurate submissions
* Partner with Treasury on daily cash management and cash flow forecasting
* Identify and drive process improvements across accounting functions
Ideal Candidate Profile:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
* CPA or MBA is highly preferred
* Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience; manufacturing industry background is essential
* Experience with ERP systems and strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, etc.)
* In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls
* Ability to lead and develop a small accounting team
* Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills
