Job Description
The Pilbara is a rewarding region to work in and offers opportunities for personal and career development for those that have the interest and desire to work within environmental management. The nature of work in the region is wide and varied and covers the Nature Conservation, Parks and Visitor Services and Environmental Regulation areas. For most employees the management of fire is also a component of their jobs, particularly during summer.
We currently have an opportunity for an Operations Manager to join our team.
Under the minimal direction of the Regional Manager, this position is responsible for the management of the workforce and implementation of works programs in the region including:
Preparing and implementing the annual schedule of works across all services.
Liaising with internal and external stakeholders and the community with regard to works program implementation.
Coordinating plant, vehicles, equipment and material resources for the region.
Advising the Pilbara Regional Manager on operational matters of regional significance.

Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following five (5) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than five (5) pages in total.
Substantial experience in park management with a particular focus on visitor management and associated infrastructure.
Considerable experience of high-level leadership, supervisory, organisational, works program planning, and human resource management skills; including a demonstrated ability to promote staff development, deal with contentious issues and improve performance, empowering staff to achieve agreed outcomes.
Evidence of high-level oral communication and interpersonal skills, and experience in effective liaison and negotiation with other government agencies, industry, stakeholders, and community interest groups, and the media.
Considerable experience in and knowledge of administrative and financial management, including budget preparation and expenditure control.
Ability and willingness to work with Traditional Owners to promote Aboriginal involvement in the workforce and participate in Joint Management Body and Native Title negotiations with a preference for someone with demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal people and having an awareness of their culture.
