About the role

An exciting opportunity is now available for a Scientist at Genomic Diagnostics Queensland laboratory. This role offers an opportunity to advance your career in a collaborative, supportive and quality-focused team environment. Through training and mentorship, you will be able to further develop your genomics knowledge and skills.

We are seeking a Genomic Scientist who is highly motivated to become part of a passionate, vibrant and engaged team who will be responsible for:

* Working as part of a collaborative team, on a comprehensive range of routine testing in all aspects of our laboratory's genetic pathology service
* Specimen preparation, analysis and reporting of referrals by cytogenomic and/or molecular technologies.
* Perform designated testing procedures as outlined in methods and procedures, ensuring adherence to NPAAC/NATA ISO15189 requirements.
* Participation in internal and external quality assurance programs.
* Participation in continuing education.
* Liaise with internal and/ or external stakeholders (referring practitioners) regarding test results or referrals as necessary
* Collaborate with clinical laboratory members to in develop, validate, and implement genomic assays into a diagnostic setting, as per NPAAC/NATA ISO15189 requirements.

About you

These are the skills and attributes you will need:

* A Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or an equivalent qualification.
* Experience in cytogenomic and/or molecular genetic testing would be advantageous.

* Recognised professional qualification in Clinical Cytogenetics or molecular genomics (e.g., MHGSA) or equivalent is desirable.

* A high level of attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and accountability.
* Strong communication and organisational skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Able to work as part of a collaborative team and contribute to team performance.
* Knowledge of quality assurance systems and scientific instrumentation and equipment
* Awareness of Workplace Health and Safety processes and procedures
