The role
National Disability and Community Services (NDCS) is seeking a compassionate and experienced Mental Health Worker to join our team. As a Mental Health Worker, you will be responsible for providing support and assistance to clients with mental health issues in a community setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide emotional support and counseling to clients with mental health issues.
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
- Monitor and document clients' progress and report any significant changes to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Coordinate with other members of the healthcare team to ensure that clients receive comprehensive care.
- Advocate for clients' rights and ensure that they have access to the resources they need to achieve their goals.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all relevant ethical and legal standards.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Empathetic and compassionate demeanor.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in stressful situations.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Polite and kind, yet firm when necessary.
- Knowledge of mental health issues and treatment options.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Pay: $31.00 - $65.00 per hour
