About the Company Our client is a values driven organisation committed to supporting and improving outcomes across communities throughout North Queensland. With operations across the broader region, they are seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join their collaborative finance team. While the preference is for candidates based within North Queensland, the organisation is also open to considering remote Queensland based candidates who can effectively support the role and maintain strong engagement with the wider team. About the Role Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Financial Accountant will play a key role in maintaining the organisation’s financial records and supporting effective operational governance and decision making. The role is responsible for delivering accurate monthly reporting, budgeting and forecasting support, financial analysis and statutory reporting, while also contributing to the ongoing improvement of finance systems and processes. This is a hands-on and commercially focused role suited to a finance professional who enjoys working closely with stakeholders, improving processes and contributing to organisational performance in a purpose driven environment. Your Responsibilities: Prepare accurate monthly management reports, reconciliations and variance analysis. Coordinate and lead month end reporting processes. Support budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling activities. Assist with internal and external audit requirements and compliance reporting. Prepare BAS and assist with statutory reporting obligations. Manage asset accounting processes and reconciliations. Provide financial advice and support to managers across the organisation. Contribute to continuous improvement of finance systems, reporting and processes. Support preparation of board and committee reporting documentation. Work collaboratively across teams to support organisational objectives. Skills and Experience Required Tertiary qualifications in accounting with a minimum of three years’ experience in financial management. CPA, CA or equivalent professional qualification highly regarded. Strong experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting and forecasting. Demonstrated ability to analyse financial data and provide meaningful insights and recommendations. Understanding of not-for-profit financial environments, including grant funding acquittals, highly regarded.
