We are currently seeking skilled, qualified and motivated individuals to join the Balco production team based at Bowmans (South Australia).
Responsibilities:
As Production Operator your primary task will be to operate machinery and equipment to assist with the processing, packaging and quality assurance of hay and straw products. Applying mechanical aptitude, you will operate the production line through computer controls and adjust where necessary for efficient and safe hay processing operations.
Reporting to the Shift Supervisor you will be responsible for the following:
* Monitor and oversee the infeed supply including monitoring and fine-tuning automation system, delivery of materials, blending rates, teaser speeds, infeed bed speeds and snub pressures.
* Oversee the press operation, inspections, and maintenance (e.g. cleaning) including detection, diagnosis, and rectification of plant faults (e.g., strappers, balers, auto wrappers, press automation system, hydraulics, and mobile plant).
* Analyse our operational data and production schedules to determine optimum worker and equipment settings (including, but not limited to, press cycle times, snub pressure, baler, weigh table figures, log weights, bale weights pack weights and container weights).
* Assist in new designs/improvements and provide feedback to the maintenance teams which would be used to develop maintenance schedules and ensure the press is running efficiently.
* To actively participate in Balco Safe initiatives and to obey all Company policies, procedures, and instructions.
* Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to operators in training.
* Assist in loading and unloading of raw and finished product as required in preparation for shipping/dispatch.
* Inspect finished products and undertake quality control.
* Participate in risk assessments of new plant and equipment on site.
Skills and experience:
* Trade or degree qualified in relevant area (e.g., mechanical, hydraulic, automation, electrical).
* At least two years of previous experience as plant/production operator in similar industry/field preferred.
* Sound mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical knowledge (fault finding).
* Sound knowledge/experience with automation systems and flow paths advantageous.
* Demonstrated capacity to work as part of a high performing team.
* Demonstrated commitment to safety values and behaviours.
* Forklift license advantageous.
* Good communication skills combined with being a team player is a must.

Salary offered will be dependent on level of skill and qualification and will be between $70,000 - $90,000 per annum + super.
