Project Planning Manager – Asset Renewal
Salary
$119,125 - $126,950 (G08) + 17% superannuation.
About the role
In this role, you will lead the definition and planning of complex capital works projects across Curtin's diverse campus portfolio. You will play a critical role in shaping integrated, well-considered project scopes that address building condition, compliance, safety, accessibility, and sustainability requirements. Working within PF&D's 3D Governance framework, you will ensure projects are properly defined, prioritised, and prepared for successful delivery – balancing technical complexity with stakeholder needs, operational continuity, and strategic asset outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead planning, feasibility assessment, and definition of capital works projects, including project briefs, design development input, risk analysis, budget development, and program planning
* Develop integrated packages of works addressing building renewal needs such as façade and envelope condition, fire safety, structural integrity, hazardous materials, accessibility, and compliance requirements
* Contribute to the coordinated delivery of capital works portfolios in collaboration with the Capital Projects Directorate
* Develop and implement effective stakeholder engagement strategies, ensuring clear consultation and alignment of project requirements and constraints
* Provide advice on statutory requirements, land use planning, and asset management considerations
* Coordinate procurement and consultant engagement for project definition and investigation phases, including oversight of consultant performance
* Support alignment with Curtin's Master Plan and Asset Management Plan, including sustainability and Green Star Communities requirements
* Represent PF&D in internal and external stakeholder forums as required
Selection Criteria
* Qualifications in building surveying, construction management, engineering or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
* Strong experience in capital works planning within complex, multi-building environments
* Demonstrated ability to define project scope and translate diverse building issues into clear, prioritised work packages
* Deep understanding of building fabric, façade systems, structural and fire safety requirements, compliance, accessibility, and hazardous materials management
* Ability to interpret technical reports, investigations, and architectural/engineering drawings
* Strong knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements within the construction and building sector
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear scopes, briefs, and project documentation
* Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills across diverse groups
* Proven analytical and problem‐solving ability with sound judgement in decision‐making
* A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
