Marine Diesel Engineer
Position Summary
As Marine Engineer, you will support diesel engine propulsion systems and ship service diesel generators onboard Navy surface ships and submarines/aircraft carriers and work alongside program managers, engineers and Navy personnel.
Security Clearance
Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
Education
A BS in Marine Engineering from an ABET institution is required; other degrees will not be considered.
Responsibilities
* Diesel engine data analysis/trending/reporting, logistics development, project planning, training support, test plan and procedure development and meeting/presentation support.
* Conduct ship visits (inspections and data collection).
* Diesel engine calibration and governor control verification.
* Troubleshooting diesel propulsion and systems.
* Installation support for new system upgrades onboard U.S. Navy ships and submarines.
* Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Education, Skills, and Experience
* BS in Marine Engineering; other degrees will not be considered.
* Up to 5 years of experience in diesel engine operation, maintenance and troubleshooting; recent grads from Maritime Academy.
* Shipboard experience desired.
* Excellent communication skills.
* Works well in a team environment.
Physical Demands and Expectations
* Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
* Regular physical activity to include walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, reaching, standing and prolonged sitting.
* Ability to speak, read, hear and write, with or without assistance.
* Ability to use phone and computer systems, copier, fax and other office equipment.
