The Opportunity
Our client is a powerhouse in the international supply chain sector, moving hundreds of thousands of containers globally each year. Known for their cutting-edge technology and "people-first" culture, they are currently seeking an experienced Cartage Coordinator to join their high-performing transport team. This is a pivotal role where you will manage the heartbeat of the operation—the movement of freight from wharf to warehouse.
Detailed Responsibilities
Wharf & Terminal Management
* VBS Coordination: Manage and secure time slots via Container chain and 1-Stop to ensure seamless terminal access.
* Demurrage Control: Proactively monitor "Free Time" to ensure FCL containers are de-hired within deadlines, eliminating unnecessary detention costs.
* Quarantine & Customs: Coordinate specific bookings for Department of Agriculture/Quarantine inspections and ensure all "A-Class" cargo is prioritized.
Transport Allocation & Scheduling
* Fleet Optimization: Allocate daily run sheets for both internal fleet drivers and external sub-contractors.
* Real-Time Tracking: Monitor vehicle movements to provide clients with accurate, live updates on delivery ETAs.
* Specialized Logistics: Arrange specialized equipment for non-standard loads, including side-loaders, hiabs, and tail-lift vehicles.
Technical & Financial Administration
* System Integrity: Maintain 100% accuracy in CargoWise One, ensuring all transport milestones and job notes are updated in real-time.
* Cost Auditing: Review sub-contractor invoices against agreed rates and manage the billing of fuel surcharges and waiting time.
* Compliance: Ensure all drivers and sub-contractors adhere to Mass Management and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) regulations.
About You
To be successful in this fast-paced environment, you will need:
* Proven Experience: At least 2 years in Wharf Cartage Coordination or Transport Allocation within a freight forwarding or transport business.
* Software Proficiency: Prior experience using CargoWise One is highly regarded.
* Local Knowledge: A strong understanding of port geography, terminal operations, and arterial road networks.
* Pressure Management: The ability to pivot quickly when vessel schedules change or terminal delays occur without losing your cool.
* Communication: A "direct but professional" communication style suitable for both truck drivers and high-level corporate clients
