Your role at St John of God Murdoch Hospital
You will work collaboratively as a member of the finance team to provide the Division with broad ranging financial, accounting and analytical expertise. You will work collaboratively across the management team to share insights, knowledge and understanding in a way that helps enhance performance and outcomes.
The Position

* Work as a member of the Finance team towards the development of a strong culture of performance management, performance improvement and stewardship through the hospital. This includes adapting and utilising Group Finance or Regional tools and developing appropriate local reporting and internal systems or processes in support of operational and financial improvement.
* Be a business partner to the Division and guided by the Director of Finance, this position collaborates in identifying issues and driving change, thereby ensuring outcomes from analytics are embedded in day-to-day operations.
* Engage with the business as a first point of contact on a broad range of financial issues. For example productivity including analysis and costing, CEA's, PO's and day-to-day queries. This will include numerous day-to-day queries of a financial nature from all cost centres within the Division.
* Assist the Finance Team in all financial compliance matters.
* Monitor productivity and performance with departmental managers on an ongoing basis and collaborate to ensure cost-centre performance aligns with agreed budgets and improvement plans. Ensure that daily productivity reporting is accurate and works with departmental managers to resolve issues where it is not.
* Work under the instruction of the Senior Financial Planning & Analysis Accountant in reviewing the Division's monthly financial results and ensure that the monthly financials (profit and loss, balance sheet) are reported accurately to the Director of Finance and in accordance with Group Finance accounting policy. This includes all activity drivers and other key performance indicators / measures.
* Assist the Director of Finance in ensuring internal controls and processes are in place to safeguard the Division's cash, capital and operating assets.
* Reviewing requests for routine capital from within the Division and making recommendations to the Director of Finance.
* Support the preparation of capital and operating budgets in collaboration with the Division's Executive team and in accordance with instructions and timetables set out by Group Finance.
* Support the capital expenditure process for the Division, including the preparation of business cases, where applicable.
* Assist in completion of reporting, review and analytics regarding the annual budget including the actions areas required to meet step changes in activity or the cost base (including associated KPI's), timing/phasing of the budget, year on year trends and assisting the Director of Finance with the identification and quantification of budget risks and opportunities
* Collaborate to improve procurement systems and process with the objective of minimizing waste, ensuring accurate reporting, minimizing working capital requirements for SJGHC and helping identify cost saving opportunities.
* Work collaboratively with Regional Hospitals and Group Finance Shared Services to resolve Service Level Agreement issues and flag to the Director of Finance when appropriate.
* Develop an understanding of the emerging trends and factors impacting revenue mix, price and activity to inform forecasting and managing workforce and productivity.
* Support the Director of Finance in the preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasts including commentary for material variances as required for review by the Director of Finance.
* Flag any insights or expectations from forecasts and make suggestions regarding remedial actions to be taken.
* Assist the Director of Finance in ensuring all strategies, objectives and actions of the Divisional Operating Plan for the finance portfolio are implemented.
* Develop a detailed knowledge of the sources of available financial and hospital data and systems and sources of Hospital data. Develop the capability to extract, analyse and then present data in a meaningful way that is value adding.
You will have considerable experience in all relevant aspects of accounting and financial management with highly developed skills in analysis and systems. You will have the ability to develop financial models with a high degree of expertise in Microsoft Excel and a sound understanding of financial models used to inform strategic and operational decision making.
With demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills, attention to detail and ability to converse with people at all working levels from within and outside SJGHC, you will have proven ability to influence financial performance and outcomes in a challenging and dynamic environment. You will have demonstrated proactive engagement of management to deliver on operational plans with commitment to continuous improvement.
To succeed you will hold a Tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce or Business with experience and demonstrated capability in a financial role within a large complex organisation.
