The Role
Join our Esperance team as an Electrical, Mechanical (Fixed Plant) or Diesel Fitter Apprentice and kickstart your career with hands-on training and expert mentorship, offering guidance from experienced Tradespeople who are committed to helping you succeed.
Throughout your apprenticeship, you'll gain practical skills and industry knowledge through on-the-job experience and formal education in mechanical/ electrical systems, safety standards and regulations—all leading towards obtaining your relevant trade certificate.
Electrical Apprentice: Certificate III Electrotechnology Electrician
Roster: 4 days on, 4 days off
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical wiring, fixtures and systems across residential, commercial or industrial sites
2. Learn and adhere to electrical codes, safety procedures and regulations
3. Help inspect electrical components and wiring for faults or compliance issues
4. Follow job site safety practices and report potential hazards promptly
5. Attend and complete classroom-based training as part of the apprenticeship program
Mechanical Fitter Apprentice (Fixed Plant): Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade
Roster: 4 days on, 4 days off
Key Responsibilities:
6. Assist in diagnosing mechanical faults in plant and machinery
7. Support installation, maintenance and repair of pumps, compressors, engines and other mechanical components
8. Learn and follow safety protocols and mechanical standards applicable to the workplace
9. Assist with preventive maintenance and routine inspections, including documentation and reporting of irregularities
10. Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and manuals with supervision
11. Attend and complete classroom-based training as part of the apprenticeship program
Diesel Fitter Apprentice: Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
Roster: Standard shifts are Monday to Friday, with optional weekend work and additional hours during harvest period as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
12. Assist in routine servicing, diagnosing and repair of diesel-powered assets such as Volvo front end loader, Clark Bobcat skid steer loader and alternators
13. Support hydraulic servicing and repair of varied equipment
14. Assist with preventive maintenance and routine inspections, documenting and reporting irregularities
15. Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and manuals with supervision
16. Perform scheduled servicing on fixed assets and respond to breakdown repairs across the Esperance zone (supervised)
17. Attend and complete classroom-based training as part of the apprenticeship program
To apply for these apprenticeship opportunities, you must be:
18. Enrolled or willing to enrol in a Certificate III Electrotechnology Electrician, Certificate III Engineering – Mechanical Trade or Certificate III Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent)
19. Hold a valid driver's licence
20. Basic understanding of electrical or mechanical theory and mathematics
21. Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces and in areas with high grain dust concentrations
Desirable
22. Previous experience in a trade environment or completion of a pre-apprenticeship
23. Knowledge of workplace health and safety (WHS) practices
24. High risk licences including FEL, Forklift, Skid Steer, DOGs (Diesel Fitter)
