Overview
As a Scientist specialising in freshwater aquatic ecosystems, you will undertake a range of science projects across Queensland to support the review and evaluation of water plans in the state. You will design and implement targeted monitoring programs in freshwater ecosystems, manage projects, undertake fieldwork in remote areas, analyse results and prepare reports.
Key Duties And Accountabilities
* Assist in design of projects aimed at filling knowledge gaps and data requirements to monitor effectiveness of ecological outcomes in water plans
* Work with other groups involved in the implementation of the Water Planning Science Plan to identify knowledge gaps and science needs
* Manage and conduct multiple projects across surface water and groundwater ecosystems
* Undertake a variety of freshwater aquatic ecosystem monitoring programs
* Maintain data in corporate databases to ensure data integrity
* Undertake data analysis and write reports on project results for a range of stakeholders
* Communicate outcomes of projects and findings effectively to water managers and other stakeholders
About You
You hold a bachelor''s degree in Agricultural or Environmental Science, Biology, Applied Science, or Natural Resource Management and have experience working in freshwater ecosystems. You are confident conducting fieldwork, including travel and occasional out-of-hours work, and understand safety requirements for remote environments. Skilled in project management, you can manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing demands, and work collaboratively across teams and stakeholders. You bring strong data management, analysis, and reporting skills, along with excellent written and verbal communication. You demonstrate initiative, flexibility, persistence, and a commitment to the DLGWV Behaviours Charter, fostering a positive and collaborative culture.
