Job Description
As a chef you will be primarily responsible for:
* Executing the preparation and cooking of food for dine-in, takeaway and catering orders
* Overseeing the quality control of the dishes during each phase of their preparation and presentation
* Ability to effectively execute all kitchen and catering operations
* Demonstrating culinary techniques and providing guidance on cooking methods
* Menu development, cost estimation for food and labour and procurement of food supplies
* Discussing food preparation issues with Managers, Dietitians, Kitchen and waiting staff
* Providing mentoring and training to kitchen staff
* Explaining and enforcing hygiene regulations
Qualifications
* Certificate IV in Kitchen Management/Commercial Cookery or above from a culinary school or apprenticeship program, which provides foundational skills in cooking techniques, kitchen management, and food safety/ relevant experience to substitute such formal training
* Minimum 1 year of kitchen management experience with the understanding of all aspects of kitchen operations
* Experience in working in catering services and home deliveries
* Ability to adapt recipes and menus based on available ingredients and customers preferences, and creativity to innovate new dishes and presentation styles
* Experience in beverages (cocktails, wine and coffee)
* Ability to lead and train kitchen staff, manage kitchen operations, and work effectively with other restaurant staff including managers
* Proficiency in planning menus, and organizing the flow of supplies and ingredients
* Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations to ensure the kitchen meets health standards
* Capability to address and resolve issues related to food quality, staff performance, and customer satisfaction
