The Role
Karratha SHS is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Laboratory Technician to support teaching staff. The successful applicant will, under supervision, (1) prepare routine chemical and equipment for lessons, construct simple apparatus for science classes, order supplies and manage stock levels; (2) perform basic repairs and maintenance on equipment and construct teaching aids; (3) label, maintain and safely store laboratory chemicals, equipment and resources, and dispose of laboratory materials; and (4) manage safety and compliance of the laboratory environment. Successful candidates will demonstrate initiative, strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, exceptional organisational skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Eligibility
Must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or hold a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of appointment.
Must obtain a valid Working With Children Check before starting.
Must consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before starting.

Strong organisational and time-management skills and ability to work independently.
Well-developed keyboarding and computer skills, including working knowledge of databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
