The role
As a Production Planner – Inventory & Procurement at Fencetech Australia Pty Ltd (T/A Otter Fencing), you will play a critical role in ensuring the business is adequately stocked to support sales order volumes and production schedules.
Reporting to the People, Process & Systems Manager, this full-time role is based in Dandenong South, Victoria, and works closely with Manufacturing, Warehouse & Logistics, and Sales to ensure materials are available, inventory is controlled, and supply risks are identified early.
This role is operational and execution-focused. It does not involve supplier negotiations, pricing strategy, or product range decisions. The core objective is simple and vital: the right stock, in the right place, at the right time.
Key responsibilities
* Manage daily procurement activities to support confirmed sales orders and production requirements
* Maintain and regulate inventory min/max levels and reorder quantities across raw materials, finished goods, and production consumables
* Raise and manage purchase orders in line with approved suppliers and processes
* Work closely with the Production Planner – Manufacturing to align inventory availability with production scheduling
* Follow up suppliers on ETAs for active purchase orders and proactively flag delivery risks
* Monitor inventory usage trends, lead times, and demand patterns to prevent stockouts or overstocking
* Maintain strict inventory control practices, ensuring all stock movements are accurately recorded in the ERP
* Investigate and resolve inventory variances, discrepancies, and stock issues
* Coordinate and manage stocktakes and cycle counts, supported by the Warehouse & Logistics Team Leader
* Provide clear visibility of inventory health, shortages, and risks to relevant stakeholder
* Contribute to continuous improvement of inventory planning, stock control, and ERP processes
What we’re looking for
* Experience in inventory planning, production planning, or supply chain coordination, ideally within a manufacturing or industrial environment
* Strong understanding of inventory control principles (min/max levels, reorder points, lead times)
* Experience working with ERP systems (Evolution ERP experience highly regarded)
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail
* Ability to work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Warehouse, and Sales teams
* Confident communicator who can manage priorities and escalate risks appropriately
* Proficient in Excel and comfortable working with inventory and demand data
* A structured, proactive approach with strong ownership and accountability
* Tertiary qualifications in Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field are advantageous but not essential.
