About the Role
Seeking an emerging academic with strong teaching skills and a growing research profile in civil engineering. The role is a fixed‐term four‐year contract, full‐time, at Bentley Campus.
Responsibilities
* Organise, plan, deliver and evaluate teaching in the Bachelor of Engineering and Master of Professional Engineering programmes.
* Demonstrate best practice and innovative teaching methods to enhance the student experience.
* Conduct world‐class research, publishing in high‐impact peer‐reviewed journals and securing successful grant applications.
* Engage with the Civil Engineering discipline and promote a positive and inclusive work environment.
* Apply relevant health and safety standards, including supervisory responsibilities for practical classes and research students.
* Promote the discipline within and outside the University through service, leadership and outreach activities.
* Exhibit the University values of integrity, respect, courage, excellence and impact in all interactions with staff and students.
Selection Criteria
Essential Criteria
* PhD in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, with post‐doctoral research and/or industry experience.
* Experience teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate coursework in civil and/or structural engineering.
* Demonstrated ability or potential to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
* Track record of high‐quality research publications appropriate to the opportunity.
* High‐level communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage students and staff respectfully across cultures and collaborate collegially.
* Commitment to integrity, health and safety, equity and inclusivity.
Desirable Criteria
* Research track record in structural health monitoring.
* Strong understanding of contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline.
Role Requirements
* Fixed‐term position; candidates must have work rights matching the tenure of the role (Australian citizens, permanent residents and temporary visa holders are eligible).
* Successful applicants will be subject to a National Police Clearance and background, integrity and reference checks to Curtin's satisfaction.
