About the roles
GEO Healthcare provides primary healthcare to men in Public Prisons across Victoria.
The Dental Assistant will be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of dental chairside duties, ensuring the dentist and patient are well supported in the delivery of oral health services. The Dental Assistant will also be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of sterilisation and reprocessing tasks associated with the clinic for which they are rostered and/or all Reusable Medical Devices (RMD's) used.
A Part Time position working 1 day a week, every Friday, at Marngoneet Correctional Centre in Lara, VIC with possibilities to work additional days at other locations.

* Dental Assistant
Skills and Experience:
* Maintain the dental suite within a GEO Healthcare location consistent with quality efficiency, effectiveness and safe dental practice.
* Co-ordinates all referrals for oral health services, which includes screening, triage and scheduling of appointments which meets clinical acuity and contractual timeframes.
* Prepare patients for dental treatment.
* Pre-set materials and equipment for the required for dental procedures.
* Undertake and comply with infection control standards and procedures in the dental clinic in accordance with GEO Healthcare policy and procedures.
* Undertake sterilisation processes, as required, in accordance with infection control standards and GEO Healthcare policy and procedures.
* Undertake general clerical duties required for the operation of the dental clinic (phone, coordination and triage of activities, communication with other member of the GEO Healthcare team and Corrections Victoria custodial staff. within the centre).
* Assists in preparing the dental clinic for daily operation and is responsible for sterilisation of dental instruments, disinfecting and general cleanliness of the dental clinic.
The ideal candidate will have:
Essential:
* Qualifications as a dental assistant - Certificate III in Dental Assisting or equivalent.
* Minimum one year of professional experience in dental work
* Previous experience in practice administration would be highly desirable.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills.
* Computer literacy.
* Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
Other Requirements of the role:
* Ionizing Radiation Apparatus Use License in Victoria for Intra-Oral Radiography (Licence to provide dental panoramic radiography is desirable).
* Valid Australian driver's licence.
* Ability to work within a prison setting, which will involve direct contact with people in prison associated with the delivery of healthcare.
* Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check.
* Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
* Working outside of ordinary business hours may be required.
