Power and Propulsion Engineer Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Power and Propulsion Engineer to join our team at Osborne Naval Shipyard, SA. As part of our Hunter Class Frigate Program, you will be responsible for various power and propulsion systems.
This role involves working with stakeholders, including suppliers from the UK and Europe, to manage work and ensure products meet requirements.
* Develop, maintain and modify engineering processes and procedures in assigned areas in response to technical developments and operational need.
* Identify areas of the Reference Ship Design (RSD) power and propulsion system design and installation that may be affected by the transfer of build from Glasgow, UK to Adelaide, SA, Australia and assist with the development of any resulting product changes for the Hunter Class.
* Work under some technical supervision, undertake functional design and/or provide advice and qualification for the scope of responsibility and provide evidence for acceptance and fitness for purpose regulatory & legislative requirements, and safety.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders as required ensuring that their requirements are adequately supported and that their needs are fully considered and incorporated where appropriate and agreed.
We offer flexible work arrangements, such as working a 9-day fortnight and/or hybrid working. Please note this role will require some after-hours calls with suppliers in the UK/Europe.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (ideal) or Aeronautical, Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering.
* Demonstrated experience working in an engineering capacity. Any maritime or power and propulsion experience is highly advantageous.
* Strong problem-solving skills, to work through complex issues.
* Self-motivation and a proactive approach to progressing all assigned tasks.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Ability to collaborate effectively with others, including designers/draftspersons, production, suppliers, and other engineers.
