Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Engagement Advisor
Knowmore Legal Service is seeking Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Engagement Advisors for our Darwin Office.
We are looking for people to work with mob to help them navigate the legal system and explore their options.
About Knowmore Legal Service
We provide free legal information, advice, representation, referrals, financial counselling, and support for survivors of child sexual abuse through the National Redress Scheme and the Territories Stolen Generations Redress Scheme.
Last year nationally, 46% of people contacting us were First Nations People (and significantly higher in the NT), so we aim to provide a culturally safe service. A key part of this is employing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Engagement Advisors to assist First Nations survivors in receiving legal assistance, working closely with other multidisciplinary team members to deliver services in a culturally safe and respectful manner.
About the role
The role has three main purposes:

2. To work as part of a multidisciplinary team with Social Workers, Lawyers, and Financial Counsellors to support First Nations survivors;
3. To participate in projects and community education activities to achieve systemic reforms benefiting First Nations people.
Additional benefits include:
* A competitive salary commensurate with the not-for-profit sector, with salary packaging options;
* Darwin staff receive 5 weeks annual leave and a shutdown period between Christmas and New Year;
* 12% superannuation contribution (above the SGC);
* Annual bonuses: 4% of base salary after 1 year, increasing to 8% thereafter;
* Access to training, development opportunities, and Employee Assistance Program.
The position works from the Darwin office and may involve regular intrastate and some interstate travel to deliver outreach services and community engagement activities. A current driver’s license and willingness to travel, including remote communities, are highly desired.
