Senior Services Data Consultant
Join GEV Vernova as a Senior Services Data Consultant and help customers unlock the value of their energy data. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing scalable data platforms for GEV GridOS products. You will lead end‑to‑end data solution design, mentor GEV technical engineers, champion best practices, and be involved hands‑on to ensure high‑quality, secure, and scalable solutions. You will partner closely with customers and cross‑functional teams to deliver successful outcomes and exceptional customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical lead or mentor on complex, integrated customer implementations, either within individual project teams and/or cross‑organizationally.
- Effectively leverage product capabilities, driving standardization, limiting customization, and maximizing reuse of content developed for previous solutions.
- Write project documentation in accordance with deliverables, including detailed design specifications.
- Provide training and mentorship to develop teams and customers, ensuring successful adoption and utilization of GridOS Data Fabric.
- Apply GEV Vernova execution methodology and project standards.
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Delivery Managers, Solution Leads, DevOps and Services Consultants throughout the implementation of a project to identify and scope application changes while adhering to the change‑management process.
- Drive continuous improvement through best practices, reference architectures, and staying current with the latest technological advancements.
- Lead discussions with business users (IT and OT), subject matter experts, and stakeholders to gather data needs and translate them into functional architecture components.
- Define domain‑driven data models aligned with electric utility processes.
- Drive workshops with customers, providing expert knowledge that forms the foundation for a successful GridOS Data Fabric realization.
- Act as a thought leader within the utility domain, challenging utilities’ data and business processes.
- Collaborate with the customer to identify technical requirements and estimate effort required to implement complex software solutions.
- Contribute to technical analysis activities such as requirements gathering and gap analysis of user requirements.
- Collaborate with solution architects to align logical data models with physical implementations and prepare a high‑level integration architecture design that integrates data from various sources with the GridOS Data Fabric.
- Define data service contracts and semantic layers across operational and analytical use cases.
- Extract meaningful patterns and trends from data to support decision‑making and optimize operations.
- Support data cataloging, lineage tracing, and business glossary implementation.
- Ensure data is discoverable, trustworthy, and accessible for use by analytics and AI teams.
- Interact with Product Development Teams, Commercial Teams, Customers, Solution Providers, and other cross‑functional teams as required.
- Implement data validation and monitoring processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
- Collaborate on data governance strategies, including data security and access controls.
- Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and product managers to understand data requirements.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot data‑related issues, and optimize data processes and queries for improved performance and scalability.
- Contribute to change management and adoption across internal stakeholders and external partners.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience in industrial systems related fields, with a demonstrated ability to implement robust data governance frameworks while maintaining high standards for security and compliance.
- Advanced proficiency in programming languages commonly used in data engineering such as Python or Java.
- Strong knowledge of database systems and advanced SQL for data querying and optimization.
- Experience with big data frameworks such as Apache Spark or Kafka.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and their data services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or Camel.
- Experience with data modeling techniques and best practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Leadership experience mentoring current team members.
- Strong collaboration skills across multiple departments, GEV businesses, and customers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Business acumen with experience delivering projects involving multiple stakeholders.
