About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Social Worker to join our multidisciplinary team at NSW Refugee Health Service. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the social work team, supervising students, and working closely with our nursing and allied health teams.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work in partnership with settlement agencies and refugee community organisations to achieve positive outcomes for our clients, many of whom have come from traumatic backgrounds.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with refugee populations and clients with complex health and social needs. You will also possess strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage a challenging workload and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the social work team and supervise students
* Work closely with our nursing and allied health teams to provide comprehensive care to clients
* Develop and implement quality improvement activities to enhance client outcomes
* Represent the organisation on various networks and committees
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you will need to have:
* A Social Work degree which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
* Extensive postgraduate experience working as a Social Worker in relevant clinical areas, including a demonstrated understanding of the health setting and complex health conditions
* Demonstrated experience in prioritising a challenging workload, managing stressful situations, and applying advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, clients, and external stakeholders
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
