About the Role
The role of the Operations Supervisor – North QLD is based in Townsville and manages the end-to-end operations of our Townsville and Rockhampton depots.
This is a critical leadership role, managing Greyhound Australia Coach Captains which includes, rostering, fatigue and performance management, ensuring a safe workplace for all and adhering to legislative and compliance requirements.
This role reports to Greyhound Australia’s Operations Manager.
Scope of role and indicative duties
- Proactive and cooperative member of the Greyhound Australia Operations Department.
- Be the primary point of call for Townsville and Rockhampton operations.
- Ensure that all Coach Captains’ shifts are covered on rosters, in accordance with the Greyhound Australia Enterprise Agreement and legislative requirements.
- Ensure that all Coach Captains' shift changes comply with internal and external fatigue management regulations, standards and legislation.
- Ensure all coach captains commencing shifts comply with fitness for duty standards and policies, encompassing fatigue management, absence of drugs and alcohol.
- Produce accurate, relevant and timely information and reports to internal and external customers.
- Assist others to manage incidents in region.
- Accept on call responsibilities on a rotational or as required basis including weekends and public holidays.
- Maintain work standards and motivation, set high goals and standards for self and the team in region.
- Ensure a team culture is developed through positive and supportive leadership.
- Provide staff with documented feedback of performance.
- Ensure staff in the region comply with company procedures, motor vehicle and workplace accident reporting, customer feedback, pre-departure checks etc.
- Comply with human resources, industrial relations and safety policies, procedures and practices and lead team by example.
- Embrace and implement new technologies when appropriate.
- Compliance with government and regulatory authorities.
- Ensure the implementation of the company’s safety systems, ensuring reasonable care for the health and safety of myself and any person who is under my control.
Competencies and Experience
- Knowledge of the Coach Transport Industry.
- Leadership experience, with the ability to guide, influence, and inspire others toward achieving a common goal (Essential).
- Experience in administrative, logistics or transport roles.
- Completion of competency “Administer the implementation of fatigue management strategies” or the ability to do so.
- Commitment to compliance with company’s fatigue management and fitness for duty policies and procedures.
- The ability to see the big picture yet still understand the day to day needs and requirements of the business and allocate resources as required.
- The ability to communicate, a preparedness to take initiative, a strong results orientation whilst demonstrating a professional work ethic.
- A strong customer orientation and a preparedness to work with and through others to achieve results.
- Intermediate to advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office and company systems).
- Knowledge of, and/or experience with, human resources, industrial relations and occupational health and safety practices, policies and procedures.
- The ability to prioritise, multi-task and follow through on required actions.
- Tertiary qualifications in appropriate Logistics, Transport based discipline or relevant industry experience.
