At Liontown Resources, our Kathleen Valley operation is moving confidently into full-scale production. Following our recent capital raise and significant investment in growth, we're expanding our technical teams to support the long-term success of the mine.
This role will provide technical expertise in the design, modification, and optimisation of mechanical assets across the operation. You'll play a key role in ensuring safe and reliable equipment performance by delivering practical engineering solutions, supporting maintenance execution, and resolving operational challenges.
With our production ramp-up in full swing, this is a pivotal time to be part of Liontown. Our focus is on building a secure, reliable, and efficient operation – and this role will directly influence the performance and sustainability of our processing operations.
What you'll be doing
Reporting to the Maintenance Engineering & Planning Superintendent, you will:
Equipment Design & Installation
– Develop and review mechanical components and systems, oversee equipment installation and commissioning.
Maintenance & Reliability
– Perform inspections, repairs, and provide technical support to minimise downtime and maximise productivity.
Project Management
– Manage mechanical engineering projects end-to-end, coordinating stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.
Safety & Compliance
– Ensure compliance with engineering standards, conduct risk assessments, and embed safety-in-design principles.
Analysis & Optimisation
– Carry out stress, fatigue, and thermal analysis to drive performance and efficiency improvements.
Maintenance Support
– Lead engineering investigations into failures and recommend design modifications, support maintainers with documentation and training.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related).
Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical engineering within mining or heavy industry.
Proven experience in design, analysis, and optimisation of mechanical systems.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Proficient in engineering software and tools.
Collaborative communicator with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Professional engineering license highly regarded.
Ability to meet site requirements, including a current
National Police Clearance
(
or ability to obtain), pre-employment medical, and drug & alcohol screen.
