ABOUT THE ROLE
Supporting our GM of Legal, Sustainability and Corporate Governance (GM), you will act as global Head of Legal providing legal advice across Cotton On Group Brands. Leading a high performing team across key areas (IP, Consumer law, Employee Relations, Commercial and Corporate), you will support and protect the Group in a commercial and proactive way.
Partnering with the GM and Group Executives but operating across all levels of the business, your key accountabilities will lie within:
- Providing strategic and commercial legal advice, policy and risk management direction.
- Supporting the GM with legal disputes, litigation, regulatory compliance, major transactions and trademark portfolio
- Proactive escalation of legal and compliance risk and identifications of solutions and treatments for this risk.
- Delivering legal training as part of the annual Legal Education Program.
Cotton On is a fast paced, dynamic retail environment that will challenge you to provide clear, concise and commercially minded legal advice focused on identifying the right solutions that align with business objectives.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
12-15+ years PQE legal experience, with ideally at least 6 of those in house
In depth knowledge in IP, Employment law, Litigation, Consumer Law, Commercial and Corporate
Experience or exposure to working across multiple global markets (US market highly advantageous)
Great communicator with the ability to adapt your approach in communication style to build and influence strong working relationships across all levels of the Group
Commercial acumen and strategic thinker with sound judgement
Excellence in execution with a considered and pragmatic approach
Previous leadership experience in a fast paced, agile working environment (retail industry preferred)
