Some Of Your Responsibilities Will Include

* Managing planning projects
* Reviewing and guiding third party works in the state-controlled road corridor to ensure good outcomes for all parties
* Analysis and reporting on problems with the network and identifying necessary improvements.


Responsibilities

The Project Planning and Corridor Management Team have three (3) primary functional responsibilities being the transport infrastructure planning, managing transport corridor development and facilitating works and network performance to meet the current and future needs of the community. In the role of the Senior Engineer (Civil) you will:

* Be involved as a senior member in corridor planning, development assessment and network management with respect to the District's state controlled road network, providing specialist development assessment advice in relation to relevant work undertaken by the Department
* Provide technical expertise and support to the design, planning, construction and maintenance processes ensuring the effective coordination of key operational activities and resources associated with project management.


Accountabilities Include

* Conducting assessments of road infrastructure and prepare reports on recommended engineering solutions to identified issues.
* Determining the engineering requirements, including materials, critical components and systems involved in delivering designated projects.
* Maintaining, applying and guiding other staff in the application of relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements necessary for the design and construction of road infrastructure projects.
* Reviewing state and local government planning documents to assess their implications for Transport and Main Roads and providing response to those documents on behalf of the District.
* Managing and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders on matters relating to transport infrastructure delivery activities.
* In managing projects, you will have the responsibility to plan, assign, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of subordinates and staff that would include encouraging teamwork and fostering a positive attitude toward the achievement of organisational objectives.
* Evaluating and design safe and effective traffic devices in accordance with legislative requirements and departmental guidelines.
* Undertaking field inspection of existing and proposed accesses to assess the suitability of the site, including measuring sight distance and field inspections of recently constructed accesses to determine whether works have been constructed in accordance with the approved design and specifications.
* Working in a collaborative and customer-centric manner with colleagues across TMR, local governments and other key stakeholders. Develop strong, positive and productive relationships with other government agencies, local governments and other key stakeholders.
* Provide support and advice on the planning and design process, to ensure delivery of project outcomes, value for money and best practice are achieved.
* Assess development applications, providing technical advice on the development assessment within the State Controlled Road Network.


Mandatory Qualifications And Conditions

* A four-year, Washington Accord accredited, Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or equivalence which is assessed/accepted by Engineers Australia against Washington Accord benchmarks.
* Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is mandatory for appointment to the position.
* A current Class ‘C’ Drivers Licence
* It is a condition of employment for recommended appointee/s to disclose any previous serious discipline action taken against them for consideration by the delegate prior to any appointment.
* Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
