Discover life-giving possibilities
Lifeblood is more than just a job or a career; it’s an opportunity to be part of something that matters. Our purpose is simple: life-giving donations for life-changing outcomes. We want to help you build a fulfilling career with Lifeblood.
About the role
Step into a rewarding role as a Nursing Assistant where you will bring excellent customer-facing skills and a genuine passion to deliver exceptional service to our donors.
You will support our donors through their donation process. Full training is provided, so all you need is curiosity and motivation to learn the process of collecting blood and biological products.
A day in the centre could include:
* Traveling across South Australia in our Donor Mobile Unit, including regional, rural, and local areas
* Greeting and interviewing potential donors to assess their eligibility
* Creating a positive donor experience to encourage repeat donations; conducting routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests
* Setting up machines and collection equipment
* Safely inserting and removing needles to collect blood, plasma, and platelets
* Monitoring donors post-donation and assisting with rebooking
* Working collaboratively to achieve collection targets
No prior blood collection experience is needed; our paid, flexible, self-paced training combines on-the-job practice and online classes to support you.
To succeed, you should:
* Be comfortable with needles and biological materials
* Be willing to travel across South Australia by car (up to 4 hours) and by air for trips up to 4 days
* Hold a current Australian Driver’s License without restrictions
* Occasionally lift between 9-22.7 kg
* Support and foster a positive team culture
* Be able to stand, walk, and bend regularly to set up and pack down equipment
* Be flexible to work varied shifts on a rotating roster from Monday to Saturday, including weekends and afternoons
