Applications are currently being sought for Guidance Officers for the North Queensland Region Guidance Pool for the 2026 year.
Guidance Officers are specialist teachers who provide professional expertise, leadership, and support to school communities and networks in the development and implementation of plans, programs, and procedures to assist students in achieving positive educational, developmental, and lifelong learning outcomes. Guidance officers contribute to a comprehensive student support and wellbeing program that is responsive to the needs of the school community.
About the Position
This temporary vacancy is open for Expressions of Interest, and any extensions to the appointment will not exceed 12 months.
Responsibilities
Provide leadership and support in the development and implementation of student support and wellbeing programs. Deliver a broad range of services, including counselling and psychoeducational assessment, to students and school community members.
Qualifications and Experience
* High level of teaching ability.
* Advanced individual and group counselling skills.
* Sophisticated interpersonal and personal abilities.
Mandatory Requirements
Current full registration as a teacher in Queensland AND one of the following:
* Completed coursework master's, majoring in guidance and counselling, or an equivalent completed coursework master's including study in psychoeducational assessment, counselling, and mental health.
* General or provisional registration as a psychologist through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) Psychology Board.
* An Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited four- or five-year qualification in psychology that, at the time of completion, would enable general registration as a psychologist following completion of a board-approved internship or accredited sequence of study.
