The Digital Operations & Technology team are custodians of the operational effectiveness of numerous applications across all portfolios. Your Impact and Contribution: As a staff Platform Engineer, with a advance experience of site reliability tools and best practice principles, you will be an integral part of CommBank's Engineering fraternity, a highly specialised team of site reliability engineers, ensuring the availability, stability, and optimal performance of the technology tools and platforms that enable our teams to deliver world-class outcomes for our customers and communities. To achieve this, your role may require your expertise to: Take ownership of technical issues relating to both infrastructure and application issues. Provide server-based support for applications running on Microsoft products (SQL Server, Windows 2008, IIS7.5) and Cloud providers (Azure and AWS). Develop and maintain automation scripts in languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Python to streamline repetitive tasks, improve system efficiency, and support incident response. Support the high availability and reliability across Windows systems by proactively identifying and resolving potential issues, optimising system performance, and executing failover and disaster recovery procedures. Troubleshoot network issues, configure TCP/IP settings, and ensure the security and compliance of Windows systems, proactively addressing vulnerabilities and security risks. The person will be exposed to a broad range of technologies and be expected to utilise their advance technical and business skills in this high-pressure environment. Extensive experience in configuring and managing advanced monitoring solutions with tools such as PagerDuty, Observe, Grafana, and Prometheus. Responsible for tracking system health, developing alert mechanisms, and maintaining comprehensive dashboards to facilitate both real-time and historical analysis across various environments. Maintain comprehensive documentation, establish best practices, and create guides for infrastructure management, troubleshooting, and automation. Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver resilient solutions, fostering a culture of reliability, security, and continuous learning. What You’ll Bring: Experience of managing large-scale web infrastructure Microsoft Windows Server environments (Windows 2008, 2016, 2019), SQL, IIS and cloud solutions. Should have an AWS cloud certification. Extensive experience managing, provisioning, and scaling AWS and Azure cloud infrastructure. Highly skilled in Windows Server environment troubleshooting, configuring, and optimising both systems. Expert knowledge of Windows Server security principles such as access control, vulnerability management, and system hardening. Proficiency in monitoring tools such as PagerDuty, Observe, Grafana, Prometheus. Strong scripting skills in Bash, PowerShell, Python, and deploying BAU scripts across environments using CI/CD pipelines. Powershell scripting is a must. Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, and network troubleshooting, network security protocols, and configurations. Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible is highly desirable. Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) for system scalability and reliability is a bonus.
