Our client is seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to lead a high‑performing workshop operation supporting complex equipment build, maintenance, and parts supply activities. This is a hands‑on leadership role where safety, planning, people leadership, and operational discipline are critical. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure work is delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard, while continuously improving workshop performance.

About the role

As Workshop Manager, you will be responsible for the end‑to‑end performance of the workshop, including labour planning, scheduling, safety, quality, and financial outcomes. You will lead a diverse team of trades, apprentices, and contractors, ensuring work is prioritised effectively and customer commitments are met. *Key responsibilities include:*

* Leading and promoting a strong safety and wellbeing culture, with a goal of zero harm
* Managing workshop labour resources (employees and contractors)
* Planning and scheduling work to meet promised delivery and completion dates
* Overseeing quality, contamination control, and compliance with standards
* Driving continuous improvement initiatives and process efficiency
* Managing budgets, expenses, overtime, and consumable usage
* Monitoring operational and financial performance and reporting on key metrics
* Developing, coaching, and engaging your team to build capability and retention
* Working closely with internal stakeholders including operations, supply chain, sales, engineering, and finance

*To be successful in this role, you will have:*

* A mechanical or electrical trade qualification, or relevant Cert IV with strong industry experience
* At least 5 years' experience in a workshop or industrial environment
* Proven people leadership experience, managing teams of 5+ staff
* Strong planning, scheduling, and problem‑solving skills
* Solid financial acumen, including budgeting and cost control
* Advanced Excel and reporting capability
* The ability to communicate clearly with both operational and non‑technical stakeholders
* A resilient, proactive leadership style with a continuous improvement mindset
