The Opportunity
As the GIS Analyst you will support the delivery, quality, and effective use of Hunter Water Corporation’s Geographic Information System (GIS). The role is responsible for maintaining high-quality spatial data, supporting field and project data capture, and contributing to the development and automation of contemporary geospatial solutions that enable informed decision-making across the business.
What you'll do:
* Support the effective use of GIS across various sections of the organisation.
* Assist with GIS database maintenance, including adding, removing, and modification of standard spatial datasets & Utility network enabled connectivity models.
* Process and validate spatial data captured from field teams, property capital works projects, and developer contributions.
* Develop new geospatial datasets from existing data sources to support operational, planning, and business problem-solving needs.
* Assist with spatial analysis in response to user requirements and defined workloads.
* Contribute to the automation of GIS workflows, data processing & system integration using scripting, FME, or other automation approaches.
What you'll need to be successful:
Essential Criteria:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in GIS, Geospatial Science, Engineering, Environmental Science, Data Science, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
* Demonstrate sound knowledge of Esri’s suite of products, including web apps, mobile apps, and other ArcGIS products.
* Demonstrated experience in GIS data capture, maintenance, and validation.
* Experience supporting GIS solutions using current IT technology.
* Demonstrated ability to apply GIS tools to support spatial analysis, data management, and operational problem solving.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable Criteria:
* Experience with scripting and automation using Python or similar tools to improve GIS workflows.
* Familiarity with ETL tools such as FME or ArcGIS ModelBuilder.
* Exposure to GIS workflow automation, scripting, or application development.
* Understanding of spatial databases and SQL-based data management.
* Experience in surveying or other GIS-related fields.
* GIS data capture within a utility-based organisation.
* Understanding of field data collection and integration into GIS.
* Capability to create documentation for systems, architecture, and user support.
* Experience delivering training and support to GIS end-users.
* Knowledge of ERP systems and their integration with GIS.
* Understanding of land parcel and property boundary information.
* Experience creating cadastral plans
