Technical Writer - (Automotive/Fleet Commissioning)
Contract: 3–4 months
My client is seeking an experienced Technical Writer for a short-term project focused on documenting vehicle commissioning processes across multiple fleet fit types.
This project will deliver a technical supplement document, a practical, in-depth guide that clearly outlines end-to-end commissioning steps for each vehicle configuration. The document will be used by technical and operational teams, so clarity, accuracy, and real-world applicability are critical.
A previous version of the document will be available on-site as a reference point, but this role requires the ability to independently refine, modernise, and expand the content.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce a detailed technical supplement covering full commissioning workflows for each vehicle fit type
* Translate complex automotive and electrical processes into clear, structured technical documentation
* Create or update digital diagrams covering wiring specifications, component layouts, and related systems
* Validate technical accuracy through collaboration with subject-matter experts and fleet stakeholders
* Ensure documentation is consistent, repeatable, and fit for operational use
Skills & Experience
* Strong background in automotive and automotive electrical systems
* Proven experience writing technical or engineering documentation for hands‐on environments
* Ability to produce digital wiring diagrams and technical schematics
* High attention to detail with a practical, process‐driven mindset
* Comfortable working on‐site and engaging directly with technical teams
* Previous experience in fleet, emergency services, defence, utilities, or government environments
* Familiarity with vehicle fit‐outs, auxiliary systems, and commissioning standards
