APS6 & EL1 Payroll Specialist

A number of opportunities for APS6 & EL1 Payroll Specialists are available to join a high-performing government team delivering payroll remediation solutions and project initiatives. The department is responsible for enabling a productive economy, enriched by science and technology, for all Australians.
This role is offered through labour hire arrangements and is ideal for candidates confident in complex payroll environments and interested in supporting business improvement and remediation activities.
APS6 Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with team members to support multiple payroll remediation projects.
- Perform analytical and problem-solving activities, including identifying causes and potential solutions.
- Prepare detailed documentation such as briefs, project plans, and process guides.
- Develop payroll test plans and perform Aurion system testing to ensure compliance with Enterprise Agreements and policies.
- Analyse payroll data and perform reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Support client agencies on complex payroll remediation issues and conditions.
- Complete audits on complex pay, conditions, and entitlements to ensure compliance with enterprise agreements, tax, superannuation, and Fair Work obligations.
EL1 Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage multiple payroll remediation projects, establishing clear plans and timeframes.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in a similar role
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in data reconciliation
- Excellent attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll systems
- Ability to work independently and in a team within a dynamic environment
- Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Desirable: Experience with Aurion payroll systems or similar platforms
- Security: Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance
