Assistant Director – Financial Policy

Base pay range: A$120,******/yr – A$135,******/yr
The Role
Working within a supportive team to deliver policy outcomes and solve unique financial policy issues.
The role includes maintaining the financial framework that covers Accountability Authority Instructions (AAIs), policy and guidance, and the grants management framework with reporting.
Accountable responsibilities as an EL1 Assistant Director:
Managing, influencing, and implementing changes to the Defence financial framework;
Complex problem solving and issues management;
Delivery on reporting requirements;
Providing relevant, accurate, and timely finance policy advice to a broad range of stakeholders, including Portfolio Ministers, the Secretary of Defence, the Chief of the Defence Force, and Senior Leaders within the Department.

The Financial Policy Directorate sits within the Financial Compliance Branch of Budgets and Financial Services Division.
It is a high-performing, cohesive team that supports continuous improvement and delivers results by developing and maintaining core financial frameworks.
