**EL1 Case Managers - Disability sector**
Multiple Case Management opportunities exist within our large Federal Government Agency. They are 12-month assignments with the potential to extend.
**The Role**
***
The EL1 Assistant Director, Case Management is an key team leadership position within and will exercise strong judgement and analytical ability to resolve highly complex issues and risks across wide-ranging matters and activities. It will work independently, with a high degree of autonomy and exercise sound judgement and decision-making ability under pressure to resolve cases in line with legislative and policy settings.
The role provides high level policy and operational advice and support. It will exercise high level problem-solving skills to achieve early resolution through negotiation or progress to a final hearing. It will also engage directly with AAT applicants and their representatives, utilising interpersonal, liaison and negotiation skills, and strong awareness of issues affecting people with disability.
**Responsibilities** 
- Resolving matters through case management of AAT in line with policy and procedures of the client. 
- Undertaking case management of highly complex AAT matters and analysing to develop recommendations for early resolution. 
- Obtaining necessary information and advice to effectively resolve AAT matters. 
- Attending Case Conferences, Conciliations, Hearings conducted by the AAT. 
- Preparing documents detailing resolution options and outcomes at Case Management meetings, 
- Assessing and responding to priority and risks, including risk to the participant, Scheme sustainability 
- Contributing to the preparation of reports, business cases, meeting submissions and correspondence. 
- Preparing and maintaining electronic record keeping, including evidence supporting decision-making processes and justifying conclusions reached during the case management process. 
- Leading and contributing to strategic projects and policy development processes. 
- Leading development of and contribution to Ministerial and Parliamentary briefs. 
- Leading a team and/or a scope of work, including mentoring, supervising, training and supporting junior Case Managers.

- Ensure in-depth knowledge of and compliance with legislative, financial and administrative frameworks, government decision-making processes and agency guidelines and regulations. 
- Recommend strategic directions for area of responsibility and consider wider agency implications when making decisions.

- Ensure quality outputs including that employees maintain a high level of specialist, professional and/or technical expertise. 
- Coordinate and undertake detailed or sensitive projects that impact on the strategic, political or operational outcomes of the agency.

- Undertake work activities with an awareness of their possible impact on strategic, political or operational outcomes for the agency/program. 
- Monitor emerging issues in a field and for identifying impact on agency priorities as well as engaging with risk and undertaking risk management activities for area of responsibility.

- Work with a level of independence, under broad direction, with a concurrent need to resolve issues and deliver quality outcomes. 
- Communicate and make decisions that are based on professional judgement, evaluating risks and in the context of a complex and changing environment. 
- Work with a focus on research, analysis and judgement to manage complex issues.
**Stakeholder Management** 
- Engage and collaborate with key stakeholders to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation. 
- Represent and explain the views of the agency at cross-agency meetings and other forums.
