Following parental separation, maintaining children’s connections with significant people in their lives is essential to their wellbeing and development, alongside ensuring they are supported in safe, conflict-free environments.
Our Child Contact Service provides safe, supported arrangements for children to transition between separated parents through supervised changeovers, and to build or maintain relationships with the parent or carer they do not live with, as well as other family members, through supervised contact visits.
About the role
We are offering a permanent part time role of Team Leader, Child Contact Service in our Mandurah branch. Working alongside a co-Team Leader, in consultation with Practice Leads, and reporting to the Program Manager, the Team Leader is responsible for coordinating service delivery and providing effective line management, leadership, and support to Family Contact Workers. The role also undertakes intake assessments to support appropriate service allocation and client engagement.
This position oversees role oversees the delivery and administration of the Child Contact Service, including risk management and liaison with key stakeholders, such as the Family Court of WA, to support clients in navigating their contact arrangements.
The current vacancy is 52 hours per fortnight.
Skills, experience, and qualifications
Essential
1. Tertiary qualification in behavioural and social sciences fields, such as Social Work, Counselling, or Psychology
2.Significant experience in working with children and families
3. Knowledge and skills in working with people in crisis, and who present with challenging behaviours
4. WA Police Force National Police Certificate (obtain upon request)
5. Possession of a current Working With Children check
6. Ability to work on weekends
Desirable
1. Knowledge and understanding of Family Law and/ or issues around separated families including children’s contact issues
2. Knowledge and understanding of Family and Domestic Violence (FDV) dynamics
3. Knowledge and understanding of child development and child welfare and protection issues
