About the position
This is a permanent full‐time opportunity for a motivated Building Surveyor to join the City of Greater Geraldton's City Growth branch. The role involves overseeing and mentoring a team of three building surveyors, and primarily coordinating the delivery of the City's building surveying services, which processed over 850 applications in 2025.
Key accountabilities
* Work collaboratively with the Manager City Growth to shape the City's building surveying service so that it is customer‐focused, efficient, compliant and aligned to organisational values and objectives.
* Undertake business planning, establish team goals, create action plans, develop work programmes and undertake risk management.
* Coordinate, provide leadership and recommend improvement initiatives for service delivery.
* Coordinate the knowledge, skills and capacity development of the team through mentoring, coaching, performance and development planning.
Position requirements
* Candidates must hold formal qualifications and experience as a Building Surveying Practitioner Level 2.
* The ideal candidate has experience as a senior member of a building surveying team, including resource planning, coordination and budget monitoring, strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
* Excellent stakeholder relationship building, clear communication and interpersonal skills, and sound judgement with a pragmatic, solutions‐focused approach to balancing multiple inputs and perspectives are essential.
Completion of a pre‐employment medical, including alcohol and other substances testing, is required for all positions at the City.
Remuneration and benefits
A salary ranging from $126,622 to $135,470 per annum will be offered dependent on knowledge, skills, experience and qualifications.
