Tarkine Consulting is supporting a growing consulting firm expanding its presence across Australia. The business operates in a delivery‐led model, working across software testing, quality engineering, DevSecOps, and automation with enterprise and government clients.
We're looking for a Business Development Manager to support this growth, with a focus on building and expanding client relationships rather than purely transactional sales.
The Role
This is a hybrid role combining account management and new business development. You'll take ownership of a set of accounts while also identifying and opening new opportunities. The role is consultative, working closely with delivery and pre‐sales teams to shape and win work, rather than operating as a standalone sales function. The focus is on building sustainable revenue and long‐term client relationships.
What You'll Be Doing
* Manage and grow a portfolio of named accounts
* Identify and win new business across enterprise and government clients
* Lead opportunities end‐to‐end, from initial engagement through to close
* Work with senior leadership, delivery, and pre‐sales teams to shape solutions
* Promote capability across testing, quality engineering, DevSecOps, and automation
* Build relationships across multiple stakeholders within client organisations
* Maintain pipeline accuracy and reporting through CRM
* Contribute to account planning, sales strategy, and weekly sales forums
* Support reverse marketing of consultants into client environments
* As the team grows, there is scope to step into leadership responsibilities, including coaching and managing sales activity
What We're Looking For
* Experience in business development or account management within IT consulting or professional services
* Track record of delivering against sales targets and building pipeline
* Comfortable operating across both new business and account growth
* Experience working with delivery teams to shape consulting‐led solutions
* Exposure to testing, QA, DevSecOps, or broader IT services is beneficial
* Strong stakeholder engagement and commercial awareness
