The role
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role is responsible for the leadership, performance, and continuous improvement of water distribution, wastewater collection and recycled water networks.
You will play a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation, maintenance and asset management of critical water and wastewater infrastructure, while supporting long‐term service reliability and asset sustainability.
Key responsibilities
* Leading and developing a geographically dispersed team including Team Leaders, Coordinators and Operators
* Driving a strong safety culture, operational accountability and continuous improvement
* Overseeing the operation of networks to meet service, regulatory and customer performance targets
* Ensuring timely response to network incidents, service interruptions and customer issues
* Managing preventative, predictive and reactive maintenance programs
* Monitoring asset performance and supporting asset renewal and lifecycle planning activities
* Acting as Incident Controller during major operational incidents and emergency events
* Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory requirements including water quality, EPA and WHS legislation
* Managing operational budgets, contractor performance and procurement activities
* Building strong relationships with stakeholders, regulators, contractors and the community
What we are looking for
* Extensive experience in the management, operation and maintenance of water, wastewater networks or similar pipeline systems
* Proven leadership experience with the ability to lead and develop high‐performing teams
* Strong operational decision‐making capability and focus on service reliability and performance
* Experience in maintenance planning, scheduling and asset management practices
* Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, contractors and operational performance
* Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills across all levels
* Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Water Industry Operations, Engineering, Asset Management, Project Management or similar (highly regarded)
