Working as a Senior HST Advisor directly for our client, Yancoal, based on site at Ashton Underground, this is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience and advance your career in the mining sector This is a residential role; however, interstate applications are welcome.
Tasks And Responsibilities
Reporting to the Health, Safety and Training Manager, this role works across all safety and risk related activities at Ashton ensuring alignment with the values and behaviours of the business whilst driving continuous improvement.
You Will Also Be Responsible For
* Partnering with leaders to implement and improve processes, including risk assessments, audits, inspections, hazard reporting, accident/incident investigations, work access permits, and behavioural safety observations.
* Conducting and supporting safety meetings, inspections, and other activities to reinforce safety standards.
* Supporting managers to ensure employees and contractors comply with Ashton's Safety Management System and relevant legislation.
* Contributing to safety investigations and ensuring robust corrective & preventative actions are both identified and implemented.
* Providing clear, consistent communication with key stakeholders regarding safety obligations, plans, and performance improvement.
* Driving targeted safety improvement projects in response to incident findings, workforce feedback, and business needs.
* Providing strong leadership and support to the role's direct report.
Skills And Experience
To be successful in securing this role, you will possess:
* Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role (essential)
* Certificate IV in Occupational/Workplace Health & Safety (essential)
* Formal Incident Investigation qualifications (Taproot, Essential Factors, ICAM) and relevant experience
* Workplace drug and alcohol testing accreditation (highly desirable)
* Strong knowledge of WHS legislation
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Proven experience driving safety culture improvements in the workplace
* Working knowledge of contractor compliance platforms such as Pegasus (highly desirable)
* Leadership capabilities
* Be able to demonstrate and provide examples of above knowledge/experiences throughout interview and selection process
