Primary objective
To establish strong, effective and trusting relationships with stakeholders. To align work with the Explicit Improvement
Agenda and policies of NTSDE. To ensure the integrity and the fidelity of courses is maintained and to provide critical and
innovative feedback to NTSDE staff regarding the suitability and quality of course material and assessment tasks. To trial
and pilot NTSDE program innovations and new course material.
Context statement
The Northern Territory School of Distance Education (NTSDE) supports and delivers a range of educational services to
students' resident in the Northern Territory or temporarily living interstate or overseas. NTSDE collaborates with home
schools, supporting educators to deliver high quality, innovative and flexible senior secondary online programs. Teachers
must be prepared to collaborate with peers to deliver and develop learning programs that align with the NTSDE Instructional
Model. Teachers must be prepared to travel, use advanced online technologies, and teach in both online and face-to-face
modes.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide procedural and educational advice to students, parents, and home schools in line with NTSDE's policies,
procedures, teaching programs and student progress.
1. Lead and manage NTSDE programs and events. E.g. Classroom environment, camps and excursions.
2. Establish and maintain effective classroom practice and ensure NTSDE Teaching Programs are delivered as intended.
3. Participate in the school's quality improvement process to improve organisational performance and student
achievement.
1. Undertake an appropriate teaching load as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
2. Demonstrated successful secondary school teaching experience that has resulted in excellent learning outcomes for
students.
2. Proven high levels of self-management and organisational skills and demonstrated ability to respond positively to
organisational change.
3. Demonstrated ability to build and sustain positive relationships and to interact and communicate effectively within
complex environments.
1. Demonstrated experience and proven ability to work with senior secondary students, teachers, leadership teams and
other education providers to improve student NTCET completion rates.
5. Registration with the NT Teacher Registration Board and current Working with Children Clearance Notice.
Desirable
1. Previous experience working in a school with a low ICSEA and a high percentage of EAL/D learners.
2. Previous experience working in a Distance Education or online environment.
