Job Title: Auto Electrician

Salary: $77,000 to $85,000 + superannuation (depending on experience)

About Us: Paulger Engineering is a well-established Australian custom truck body manufacturer based in Yandina, Queensland. Operating since 1984, we specialise in precision metal fabrication and mechanical design, producing high-quality flat trays, service bodies, tippers, crane fitments and chassis extensions. Our workshop supports a wide range of electrical and mechanical systems integrated into custom truck builds. We pride ourselves on technical accuracy, quality workmanship, and delivering reliable, purpose-built solutions to our clients. We are seeking a skilled and experienced auto electrician to join our team on a full-time, ongoing basis. This hands‑on role suits an electrician who enjoys diagnostics, system integration and working across modern vehicle and truck body electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Diagnose complex electrical faults across vehicles, truck bodies, machinery and auxiliary systems
* Install, repair and maintain automotive electrical and electronic systems
* Test, repair and replace wiring looms, alternators, starter motors, relays, control modules and sensors
* Install and integrate aftermarket accessories including LED lighting, camera systems, alarms, radios and control interfaces
* Use diagnostic tools, multimeters and testing equipment to identify faults and verify repairs
* Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, technical manuals and service documentation
* Perform preventative maintenance and electrical safety inspections
* Ensure all work complies with Australian electrical standards, manufacturer specifications and workplace procedures
* Accurately complete job cards, service records and compliance documentation
* Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment
* Follow all workplace health and safety policies and procedures
Skills & Experience
* Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology or equivalent qualification
* Minimum 3-5 years' experience as an Auto Electrician in a workshop or mobile environment
* Strong diagnostic, fault‑finding, and problem‑solving capabilities
* Experience working with modern vehicle electronics and CAN‑bus systems (highly regarded)
* Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical documentation
* Solid understanding of electrical safety standards, risk controls and best practices
* High attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship
* Ability to work independently and as part of a skilled trade team
* Current Australian driver's licence (preferred)
