**About the role**
As the Workshop Manager, your passion and drive will be focused on efficiently managing the upkeep of fleet and workshop operations. You will have a people and commercial-centric focus with leadership mindset, providing coaching and mentoring to the workshop team. Guiding and directing with safety leadership and operational management, driving culture, with hands-on approach with aspects of operations, safety, compliance and people management.
Your goal is to maintain a consistently reliable, safe, and compliant fleet that is always ready for work. This includes auditing and monitoring all maintenance requirements to ensure that all maintenance activities are compliant and in line with legislation, regulatory and contractual requirements; NHVAS and WAHVA requirements and Chain of responsibility Maintenance.
**Duties**
- Provide guidance, support and leadership to workshop leaders; mentoring and leading the maintenance team and ensuring performance monitoring and development of employees.
- Conducting routine audits and safety inspections.
- Dangerous Goods inspections are carried out and completed in a timely manner.
- Including NHVAS and WAHVA To ensure all equipment complies to State and Federal regulations including COR.
- Ensuring all fleet and LPG Trailers are compliant.
- Continually review and identify the maintenance operations for further improvement opportunities.
- Performing annual evaluations of direct reports, whilst ensuring identified training and development needs are met.
- All safety, operational, commercial and cost related performance targets are achieved.
- Manage Human Resources matters, reporting, compliance and updates continually.
**Skills & experience**
- Proven experience in a Workshop Manager with demonstrated understanding of the importance of balancing operational efficiency, quality, health and safety, and environmental requirements.
- Current knowledge of industry sector and working practices of heavy duty plant/vehicle maintenance and repair in line with NHVAS compliance.
- A thorough understanding of COR (Chain of Responsibility) Laws.
- Understanding of principles for identifying and managing hazards and risks in the workplace.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, be highly organised and the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with workforce, management and clients.
- Ability and desire to take initiative and persevere in a demanding operational environment.
- Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), and intranet systems
- Robust people leadership skills a must, passion for people and safety!
