The electrician is responsible for delivering electrical work on time, in full, and to the required standard, while striving for continuous improvement. They are also responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, tidy, and productive work environment for themselves and their workmates.
What's involved
Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and components on board commercial and defence vessels, including lighting, navigation, propulsion, and communication systems.
Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams to ensure accurate and efficient electrical installations.
Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and fault-finding on electrical equipment to ensure timely and effective repairs.
Install and connect power distribution boards, control panels, and circuit protection devices, ensuring proper configuration and functionality.
Collaborate with engineering, mechanical, and shipbuilding teams to support system installations and commissioning activities.
Adhere to WHS (Work Health and Safety) procedures and electrical safety regulations, promoting safety on board and in the shipyard.
You'll need
Holders of a valid "A" Grade Electrical License with Mechanic Endorsement (or fitter where permitted).
High Risk Works – confined space / working at heights.
Ability to perform work safely and responsibly.
Demonstrated theoretical knowledge.
Ability to use standard tools and equipment related to the trade.
Good time management skills and ability to meet targets.
First Aid / EWP certification.
Previous experience in Defence, Government, Marine/Ship Repair, or Heavy Industry.
