Job Description
NOTE: This is a part time role, requiring 3 days per week.
This position is primarily focused on supporting the Head of Strategic Capital and Commercial Solutions in initiating, developing, and executing value-enhancing activities. You will play a key role within the Strategic Capital team to implement TAL's capital management strategy, including providing recommendations to the EGM Commercial Solutions, CFO, and Board on all aspects of capital management.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver financial assessments (profit, capital, value) for finance-led reinsurance initiatives, or collaborate with the business to develop such assessments, including identifying potential risks.
* Support the execution and governance of capital management strategies.
* Contribute to initiatives that optimise reinsurance from both a capital and value perspective. This may involve engaging in discussions with external parties on new reinsurance opportunities, managing relationships, coordinating transactions, finalising agreements, and overseeing risk management and monitoring. Note: This role does not include day-to-day operational management of reinsurance premium payments or claims collection.
* Assist with capital management activities such as recovery planning, stress testing, forecasting, and dividend approvals.
* Support the Commercial Action Plan (CAP) by collaborating with finance and business teams to develop, plan, execute, and report on CAP initiatives.
Qualifications
* Strong knowledge of Life Insurance Capital or Valuation with direct experience of working in a life or reinsurer valuation or capital team
* Strong knowledge of reinsurance with direct experience of working for a reinsurer in a pricing or valuation role
* Strong Financial modelling experience.
* Strong ability to communicate and to articulate complex concepts.
* Strong understanding of financial and operational risk management
* Strong initiative, in particular with respect to developing new ideas and concepts for practical application.
* Qualified Actuary with more than 10 years post qualification experience
