SENIOR FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT, REPORTING – FINANCE – SYDNEY (6-Month FTC)
The primary purpose of this role is to ensure the timely delivery of accurate, complete, and compliant financial reporting processes for Allianz Australia (AAL) and its operations, and to assist in the coordination of external audits.
Responsibilities
* Deliver the timely delivery of complete and accurate financial reporting (comprising statutory financial statements, regulatory reporting, government agency returns, internal and group reporting) processes, including month/quarter end close processes for Allianz's operations including subsidiaries, analysing, and challenging information provided to ensure figures are clearly understood and supported.
* Play a key role in the discussions with stakeholders in Finance, the business as well as Allianz Group centres, to resolve issues and support other team members in the close process.
* Maintain and manage reporting areas or functions such as Allianz Australia, New Zealand Branch, and/or Allianz Life and related corporate entities, underwriting agency results, reporting to government bodies e.g. iCare, Insurance for NSW, Statutory returns, Workers Compensation, group reporting functions under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Solvency II and other applicable requirements.
* Identify current and upcoming changes to accounting standards, APRA prudential and reporting standards. Actively participate in projects to effectively respond to regulatory reporting, accounting standard and business operating changes.
* Participate in the capital base projections for annual capital planning and calculation processes to ensure accurate capital measures are appropriately estimated.
* Implement and maintain an appropriate control framework to ensure complete, accurate and timely reporting. Proactively improve month‑end processes and controls through appropriate risk recognition and mitigation.
* Review and oversee external and group reporting outputs delivered by Accounting and Reporting Hub.
* Establish strong working relationships within and outside of Finance, be a 'go‑to person' for areas of responsibility and understand the business, their strategies and drivers and the connection to figures reported. Support the team in developing these networks.
* Deliver financial reporting process, including full analysis of figures, preparation of Board and Audit Committee papers. Assist in co‑ordinating and facilitating requests from the external auditor.
* Assist with ad hoc projects – e.g. implementation of new accounting standards, accounting policies, review of strategic initiatives proposals, acquisitions/divestments.
* Support the annual planning process for Allianz's subsidiaries and collaborate with stakeholders to understand strategies and business drivers.
This is a 6‑month Fixed‑Term Contract opportunity.
About You
* Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline with relevant accreditations e.g. Chartered Accountant (CA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
* Experience in insurance or financial services in a financial accounting, statutory or regulatory reporting role.
* Experience with SAP, Table Manager 1 (TM1), CDM reporting, APRA D2A, APRA Connect as well as strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written to build and maintain strong business relationships in a team‑based environment.
* Strong time management and organisation skills, with the ability to multi‑task and prioritise your work.
* A positive, proactive, and resilient attitude to embrace change and innovation.
* Proven analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret and challenge data and results.
