OverviewSenior Terrestrial Ecologist – (2500023M).
The role is with Stantec, located in NSW, Australia, with work-from-home and flexible options.
You will join an Environment team providing strategic and practical solutions to environmental management challenges and take a lead role in supporting the Ecology practice across the NSW region.You will join a highly regarded team with industry experts across Marine, Aquatic and Terrestrial Ecology and work on a range of projects across the Asia Pacific Region.
The role can be based in any NSW office with flexible work arrangements and opportunities for professional growth, including conference presentations, professional memberships, and mentoring junior ecologists.ResponsibilitiesProviding advice to infrastructure and natural resource management projects for private and public sector clientsLeading and coordinating environmental surveys and impact assessments of terrestrial ecosystems (flora, fauna, biodiversity, habitat)Delivering environmental analysis, research and field surveysDelivery of technical reports for clients and participation in proposal and tender productionEstablishing and driving a culture of efficient and effective project delivery within EcologyManaging project delivery across the project life cycle, with accountability for time, cost and qualityContributing to strategic planning and implementation of initiatives within the business unitBuilding and maintaining client relationships on allocated projects and new opportunitiesPromoting a culture of high performance, delivery and continuous improvement; mentoring junior team membersSupporting the BD Leader and others on opportunities and pursuitsTo be Successful in the Role You Will NeedTertiary qualifications in Environmental Science and/or EcologyMinimum of 5 years' post graduate Ecology experience, ideally in a consulting, construction, or regulatory environmentBiodiversity Assessment Method (BAM) accreditation (or working towards)Demonstrated identification skills in Current South Wales flora, fauna and ecological communitiesThorough knowledge of relevant NSW/ACT standards and legislationDriver's license essential; 4WD experience preferableExcellent interpersonal skills to liaise with clients and develop skills in junior staffAbility to work within a multi-disciplinary team and encourage collaborationStrong commercial acumen to financially manage projects and pursue business development opportunitiesPhysical RequirementsPosition includes both office and fieldwork; the applicant must be physically able to stand and work in the field, including remote areas, for extended periods.What We OfferAlong with a competitive salary, we offer benefits to support professional development and wellbeing.Flexible working arrangements including work from home, school-term contracts, job sharing and part-time optionsOption to purchase up to 4 weeks of additional leaveLearning and Talent Development Programs, including global programs, online learning and on-the-job learningMentoring for your development and opportunities to mentor othersA friendly team environment with dedicated staff delivering high-quality serviceProfessional MembershipsSalary Continuance Insurance (SCI)Mental Health and Wellbeing ProgramsService Recognition AwardsEmployee Assistance ProgramAbout StantecThe Stantec community unites over 30,000 employees across 450 locations on six continents.
