We are seeking an Operations Engineer to join our Network Engineering team within Operations and Maintenance.
About the role
Reporting to the Network Configuration Leader, this role provides hands-on engineering support across our water and wastewater networks. You will contribute to the development and implementation of operational engineering solutions, support network configuration and performance, and help ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and water quality requirements.
This is a practical, early-career engineering role suited to someone looking to build depth in operational engineering within a large, complex utility environment.
The role may participate in an on-call roster.
Key responsibilities
* Provide engineering support and technical advice for complex and emergent issues across water and wastewater network operations
* Assist with operational configuration and development of operating envelopes
* Operational acceptance on new and decommissioning of retiring assets
* Assist with process analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
* Work collaboratively across Network Services to support safe, reliable, and cost-effective service delivery
* Build technical capability through on-the-job learning, coaching, and formal development activities
About you
You are a developing engineer with a strong interest in operational engineering and public infrastructure. You bring a practical mindset, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work effectively within established processes while contributing ideas for improvement.
You will ideally bring:
* A Bachelor of Engineering from a recognised institution
* Around 1 to 3 years' experience in an engineering environment, ideally within utilities, infrastructure, or operations
* Exposure to technical analysis and engineering problem-solving
* An understanding of operational or asset management principles
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
* A proactive, accountable approach to your work, with a focus on safety and customer outcomes
