Library Marketing & Programs Leader - Communications & Events
Your new company
Working for a local council in Northern Sydney, you will work in the library as a leader for Marketing, Communications and Events. This is an exciting opportunity to lead marketing and adult programming initiatives that engage and inspire the local community.
This role will have one direct report. It is a 6-month contract, there is flexibility to wfh 2 days per week. However, the role requires flexibility with starting/end times. You may be required to work evenings/weekends for events.
Role Overview:
Communications Focus:
* Based in the library but works closely with the central communications team.
* Responsibilities include managing social media, newsletters, and community engagement initiatives.
* Programming & Events:
* Plan and deliver all adult programming for the library (e.g., Lunar New Year).
* Liaise with community groups, publishers, and stakeholders to coordinate events.
* Oversee event logistics: MC duties, setup, and execution across the council branches.
* Event sizes range from small workshops (e.g., Tech Savvy - 10 attendees) to larger events (up to 200 attendees).
* Collaborate with Council's Events Team for major festivals
Your New Role
As the Library Marketing & Programs Leader, you will:
* Lead communications and marketing for the library, working closely with the Council's Communications team.
* Manage social media, newsletters, and community engagement activities.
* Plan and deliver adult programs and events across four branches, from small workshops to large-scale cultural festivals.
* Liaise with community groups, publishers, and stakeholders to coordinate events and ensure smooth execution.
* Oversee event logistics, including setup, MC duties, and collaboration with Council's Events team for major festivals.
* Provide leadership and direction to one direct report, ensuring high-quality content and coordination.
This role combines strategic planning with hands-on event delivery, requiring strong writing skills and the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
What You'll Need to Succeed
* Bachelor Degree in Marketing/Public Relations/Communications
* Applicants must provide a current Working with Children Check
Required Experience
- Extensive experience in the development, delivery and marketing of community-focussed learning programs and events
- Demonstrated experience in digital communications, including social media and content management
- Proven capacity to manage, lead and motivate teams using a high level of interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Required Skills
* Excellent communication (oral and written), presentation and interpersonal skills, including the ability to plan, develop and implement programs that support the long-term goals of the Library and Council
* Excellent problem-solving, conflict resolution, negotiation, organisational and time management skills
* Well-developed skills in establishing and building collaborative partnerships to deliver outcomes relevant to the role
* Understanding of effective marketing strategies to reach specific demographics
* Event management skills
