About the Position

The Senior Research Grants & Business Development Officer provides high-level pre-award support to researchers to grow CDU's external research income, including but not limited to competitive grants, contract/consultancy research, and tender funding. The role is responsible for proactively identifying external funding opportunities, supporting the development of high-quality research funding applications, guiding researchers through compliance and internal approval requirement, and managing all aspects of submission to external funders. The position also contributes to business development and engagement activities that strengthen CDU's research capability and build strategic partnerships.

Reporting to the Associate Director of Research Funding, Strategy and Compliance, the role operates as part of the Office of Research and Innovation (ORI)'s Research Grants and Contracts team, working closely with the Post-Award Officer and the Contracts Officer to ensure seamless support across the full research funding lifecycle.

About You

To be successful, you will require:

* Tertiary qualification and relevant experience, or extensive experience, in business development or research grants administration within an educational or similar institution.
* Demonstrated experience in pre-award support, securing competitive grants and contributing to research funding growth; and/or knowledge of research funding landscapes, grant processes and compliance requirements.
* High-level verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate complex information clearly, provide expert advice and negotiate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
* Proven ability to collaborate effectively across diverse groups, prioritise tasks, manage competing deadlines and oversee multiple applications concurrently, with high attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
* High-level conceptual, analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret funding guidelines, assess compliance, analyse budgets and recommend solutions to optimise outcomes.
* Demonstrated ability to show initiative, instigate and undertake tasks with minimal supervision, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at Professional Level 7. The base salary will be in the range of $96,559 – $105,992 per annum. The total remuneration package will be in the range of $112,974 - $124,010 per annum inclusive of 17% superannuation.
