Survey Graduate – Want to Get Registered (and Actually Be Supported)?
If you're a survey graduate who wants to get registered but feels like you're not really moving forward where you are, then this is worth reading.
A lot of graduates start out motivated, only to find themselves doing the same work year after year, with registration always "next year". The intention might be there, but the structure, support, and time just aren't.
That's the gap we're trying to close.
A bit about us
SDG is a multi-award-winning land development consultancy with two offices in Sydney and a strong track record of supporting graduates through the registration process
Since 2018, we've had 10 graduates successfully complete their registration, with many still working with us today. We currently have two more graduates actively progressing through the process, so you'll be supported not just by mentors, but by peers who are on the same journey
Registration isn't an afterthought here. We understand what's required, what the bottlenecks are, and how easy it is for graduates to stall without the right support.
We have in-house expertise across:
* Cadastral surveying
* Engineering
* Town planning
* Strata and community titling
We also have alliances with firms outside Sydney, which allow graduates to gain rural experience and work on projects where that's needed.
Several partners within the business are BOSSI examiners, so we understand the process from both sides, what's expected, how assessments are approached, and where candidates often come unstuck.
What we're looking for
We're looking for a survey graduate who genuinely wants to get registered.
Someone motivated, open to learning, and ready to take ownership of their development, but also wants a workplace that will actually back them.
How we support you
This isn't a "figure it out as you go" environment.
You'll be working in a structured learning environment with:
* A defined registration pathway program
* A dedicated mentor with check-ins
* Structured learning time specifically to support your development and registration journey
The role
Your work will include a mix of:
* Strata, Stratum and Land Subdivision projects
* Detail surveys
* Small set-outs
* Exposure to scanning if that's an area you're interested in or already developing
* Various smaller survey jobs that support your learning and development
You'll be part of a team of over 60 people across two Sydney offices, including 11 registered surveyors.
There's no shortage of experience around you, with people to learn from, ask questions of, and lean on as you work toward registration.
If you're in a role where you're working hard but not really progressing, and you want a clearer, supported path to registration with a firm that actually gets people registered (10 graduates in 8 years)—we'd like to hear from you.
